Special Advances Program in Special Needs Education

Educational goals

Teachers are trained in special needs education schools or teachers in charge of special needs education in elementary schools, junior high schools, and other levels.

This program aims to train participants.

Characteristics

Over the course of one year, we will train teachers to take charge of the education of children with special needs and enhance their level of expertise in special needs education.

Course overview and certificates awarded

Course A:

To obtain a type-1 teaching certificate for special needs education schools (i.e., intellectual disabilities, motor disabilities, and health impairments), student teachers will mainly learn about education for children with intellectual disabilities, motor disabilities, and health impairments.

Course B:

Students with a type-1 teaching certificate for special needs schools will acquire advanced specialized knowledge and skills to play a leading role in the field of special needs education. After completing Course B, students will obtain an advanced teaching certificate for special needs schools (i.e., intellectual disabilities, motor disabilities, and health impairments). Furthermore, by taking a special program, student teachers may acquire the expertise required to serve as special needs education coordinators. In this manner, special needs education in the region can be improved, and collaboration among schools can be promoted.
