Advanced studies on transforming educational practice

Training goals

In addition to skills for addressing educational issues in the community and school and management abilities for school improvement, the course aims to enhance comprehensive practical skills, such as class planning and development, based on the goals and nature of the subject. The course employs a perspective that encompasses various subjects and school types.

Characteristics

  1. The ratio of teachers to students is 1:1.2, such that teachers can provide students with close guidance.
  2. We collaborate with many schools in the prefecture, including various school levels and types (e.g., elementary, junior high, senior high, and special needs schools). Students conduct more than 200 hours of practical training per year in partner schools according to their research topics.
  3. The university houses a laboratory for graduate students in the teaching profession to provide an environment in which students can conduct research, develop classes, and obtain guidance on presentations.
  4. Undergraduate students are provided with support for teacher recruitment examinations as necessary.

Course and field overview

1. Educational practice development course

This course nurtures the abilities required for the design and practice of school, class, and lesson improvement in accordance with local school issues, which can lead to educational practice, and provide practical guidance to children with developmental disabilities.

1-1 School management field (in-service teachers only)

The participants will acquire advanced practical expertise in school development as a whole and the ability to appropriately manage a school by managing faculty and staff, school safety, and regional cooperation.

1-1 Teaching ability training field

Participants will acquire advanced practical expertise in class and lesson guidance, as well as the ability to lead educational practice.

2. Subject area practical development course (primary and secondary subject education fields)

This course examines subject guidance conducted in elementary, junior high, and senior high schools. Participants will acquire the ability to design and practice classes based on high-quality educational content and research on teaching materials and will develop advanced classes that encompass various subjects and school types.

Degree and teaching certificate awarded

Students who meet the year and credit requirements stipulated in the Graduate School of Education Regulations will be awarded a Master’s Degree in Education (Professional).

Holders of a type-1 teaching certificate for elementary school, junior high school, or senior high school can obtain an advanced certificate upon earning the required credits.
