Attached School for Children with Disabilities

Our school is a special education school designed to help and train children with disabilities. In 1973 the school was established by combining the special education classes in the attached elementary and junior high schools of Yamanashi University, as the first one of the kind in Yamanashi Prefecture. In the following year classes for high school education were added and the school became what it is today, being made up of three components: elementary, junior high, and high schools. We currently have three classes for each school, and our 60 students whose ages range from six to eighteen participate in various activities and training programs. Students are from various parts of Yamanashi Prefecture, coming to school by public transportation, or with their family members' assistance. We contribute to the development of regional special education by actively conducting practical research and sharing its fruit with the community. Being a school attached to Faculty of Education and Human Sciences of University of Yamanashi, we help students from there to practice teaching who seek careers in educational fields.
