The Educational Facilities for Nature Study
was established for practical educational and research activities
in a natural environment and their advancement. It is located
at 1419 Tsukahara-cho, Kofu and has an area of 12,691 square
meters. As for the educational purpose, it serves as a research
site for cultivation studies, and also provides the children
and students in our attached academic institutions with direct
experience of communing with Nature. The facilities are also
open to the general public, and we hold an extension program
"Flower and Vegetable Growing," supporting lifelong learning
in the local community. Our research activities include the
study and experiments in preserving Picea torano, commonly
known as Tiger Tail Spruce, which is indigenous to Mt. Fuji
and designated as a protected species and as a national natural
treasure as well. In the near future the foot of Mt. Fuji
will be seen mantled in luxuriant green of Tiger Tail Spruce
that we are growing in the nursery of our facilities.
