Our kindergarten is located north of Kofu station with Attached Elementary School and Attached Junior High School, all put together in the same precincts. Our playground may not be so big, but as the kindergarten song goes it commands a fine view of Mt. Fuji, the symbol of Japan, providing children with a wonderful environment. We have four classes for 108 children: two classes for 3-year-olds with 18 children in each; a 4-year-olds' class with 36 children; a 5-year-olds' class with 36 children. The staff comprises the director, six full-time teachers, and six part-time teachers. Our objective is to nurture and educate children to: 1)be healthy and strong, 2)develop sensitivity and creativity, 3)be friendly with each other, by giving individual attention to each child. Our principal educational focus is on playing, but we also offer children, according to their development, proper learning opportunities to know how to act in a group and how to play musical instruments for exhibitions as well. Our school year begins with the entrance and opening ceremony in April, followed by various activities such as excursions, an "imohori" or a sweet-potato-digging expedition, and a sports meeting. Children are also exposed happily to foreign cultures by meeting exchange students.
